Climate Finance Roadmaps for the Sahel

In coordination with the Climate Adaptation Support Activity (CASA) and USAID Bureau for Africa/Sahel Regional Office, Planet Partnerships designed a unique methodology for country and regional climate finance roadmaps.

This included the design and scoping of concepts to accelerate and mobilize climate finance through policy reform, financial instruments, technical assistance projects, and institutional partnerships. The final roadmap methodology is customizable and replicable across jurisdictions.

In coordination with CASA, Bureau for Africa, and Sahel Regional Office, we designed and presented a customized methodology for climate finance roadmaps that can be a useful design resource for USAID personnel.

We consulted with 25+ representatives from USAID, several development finance institutions, accredited entities, multilateral organizations, investors, and government agencies to compile climate finance data and validate our roadmaps methodology

We co-designed investment concepts and financial instruments alongside selected partners, with an estimated cost for USAID exceeding US$15 million for several concepts that featured conservation trusts, endowment funds, impact funds, and green loan programs.

Our team consulted with four (4) organizations that are seeking accreditation with the Green Climate Fund and Adaptation Fund to define accreditation pathways with detailed milestones and cost estimates for USAID technical assistance.
