Planet Partnerships is supporting the implementation of USAID’s flagship global water financing project, WASH-FIN 2.0, with advanced financial engineering and transaction structuring.

With a capital mobilization goal of US$375 million, our team is advising on financial instrument and fund structuring, investment facilitation, policy reform, and market engagement alongside leading investors and financiers.

Our team designed and successfully pitched a blended finance facility in Kenya to provide concessional loans and technical assistance to project developers alongside commercial banks. This included a detailed funding flow approach and financial modelling.

We assessed 42% of Water Service Providers (WSPs) in Kenya (37 total) to support capable partners to enter PPA agreements that bring down operational costs through solarization (expected transaction size per PPA agreement US$500,000 to US$1 million).

To ensure a consistent investment facilitation approach, an integrated climate finance strategy was developed based on multiple pre-defined transaction models and performance-based financing structures.

Complemented by a capacity building ‘primer’ presentation, our team designed a carbon credits viability assessment tool for use during preliminary due diligence, which can be customized across transaction models and jurisdictions.
